Prefixes and suffixes

The affix tables themselves: what each name means, what it gives, and the level it becomes available at. This is what a magic or rare item is made of.

Reading a magic name

A magic item's name is prefix + base + "of" suffix, and either half can be absent - "Jagged Long Sword", "Long Sword of the Bear", or both. A rare carries up to three of each, which is why its name is invented instead.

ColumnMeaning
LevelThe affix level an item must reach before this can be rolled. Affix level is derived from the item level, so depth is what opens the good ones.
EffectThe engine power and the range it rolls in. A single value means it is fixed.
Applies toWhich item kinds can carry it.
GoodWhether the affix survives an "only good" drop - the kind unique monsters and chests produce.
AlignWhether the game considers it a blessing (GOOD), a curse (EVIL) or either (ANY).

Curses

Affixes whose power ends in _CURSE make the item worse - lower to-hit, less armour, a smaller light radius - and they exist so a magic item is not automatically an upgrade. They are marked in the Align column and cannot appear on an "only good" drop.
